Golden Hour Reverie — image 1

Golden Hour Reverie captures the fleeting ten minutes when late-afternoon sun turns everything to liquid amber. The gold leaf veins are not decorative—they trace the actual shadow patterns cast by a Japanese maple onto my studio window one October afternoon. I mapped them in charcoal on the glass, then built the painting around those frozen shadows.

Painted on optically clear float glass with Reusche enamels in twelve layers, each kiln-fired. Gold leaf veining is applied with oil sizing over a base of burnt sienna enamel to give the leaf a warm undertone. Housed in a hand-finished walnut shadow-box frame.

The gold leaf veins scatter point-source light beautifully. Best displayed on a wall that receives afternoon sun, or use a dimmable warm-white LED backlight panel for evening viewing.

Gently dust with a soft, dry cloth. Never spray cleaning products directly onto the glass surface. Store upright if transporting; never lay flat for extended periods.
